 Meat Goat Service

Our meat goat service is perfect for those interested in having goat meat in their freezer, but don’t have a place to keep their goat until slaughter time.  Our Meat Goat Service includes board, free choice roughage (grass or brome hay),  pelleted goat feed as needed and transportation to Turner’s Processing in Fair Grove.  The buyer is responsible for contacting Turner’s Processing to arrange services and buyer is responsible for processing fees.  If buyer chooses, transportation can be arranged to a different processing plant for a small fee to cover gas cost.  Price of goat and board must be paid in full before goat can be transported to processing.

Cost: $15/week (2 week minimum)

Farm Fresh Eggs

Farm fresh eggs available.  Delicious, free of hormones and a lot healthier.  We typically have a few dozen ready.  Looking for eggs to hatch out?  Let us know.  We should have some bantam cochin eggs for hatching by March.   Update: 4/15  Bantam Cochin eggs available for hatching.  We've already hatched out a few in our incubator, so we know the eggs are being fertilized successfully.

Cost: $2.50 dozen farm fresh eggs, $2.50 half dozen Bantam Cochin eggs for hatching

Goat Sales

  • All goats are on a regular vaccination program and dewormed as necessary.
  • A Health/Breeding Information sheet will be given with each goat when available.
  • We gladly accept cash and checks, however goats will not be allowed to be taken off our farm until the check clears (normally takes about a week).

Meat Goats
Meat goats will not be dewormed within the last 30 days of their sale date, so they will be ready for slaughter.  Some meat goat buyers prefer that their meat goats not be given vaccinations or be castrated.  We vaccinate our goats to ensure that our herd is healthy.  If you wish for your doeling or buckling not to be vaccinated, ear tagged or castrated, we will require a deposit on your goat and that you pick up your goat immediately after it is weaned (if no vaccinations are given).

Registered Boers

For bred does, an ABGA Service Memo will be given to new doe owner.

Deposits
Deposits may be required in some cases in order to hold a goat.  Deposit will be refunded 100% if for some unforseen reason goat becomes ill, hurt or dies.  Buyer is not entitled to a refund of deposit if the buyer backs out of the sale.   Deposits are normally 50% of the price of the goat, unless other arrangements are made.

Our Farm

Our farm goals are to raise goats that thrive in their conditions without extensive outside help from us.  While our goats are given shelter, necessary veterinary care, and lots of love, we do not pamper them.

Goat Husbandry

All of our goats are kept on a regular vaccination and deworming program.  We check our goats gums regularly.  Gums that are pink and healthy indicate a goat that is not in need of dewormer.  A goat with white gums is in need of dewormer.  The wonderful thing about Kiko goats is that they are very parasite resistant and do not require as much care.
We do control external parasites, such as lice, by using pour-on’s or dusts specifically made and labeled for goats.

Our goats’ hooves are also trimmed as needed.  Normally this will mean about twice yearly for Boers, and perhaps annually for Kikos.

Our goats are ear tagged and bucklings are castrated unless held back for breeding purposes or for buyers who choose not to have their buckling cut.

Our goats are weighed at birth and we do keep track of their average daily gains if they are raised here on our farm.  If a goat does not perform as we see fit, they are culled from our breeding program.  Culled goats are not sold as breeding stock, but taken to the auction or sold by other means.
